Painting Enquiry

Martin Cooper is a painter and a musician. He is a keyboard player and occasional saxophonist for the band ‘Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.’ He first joined the band in 1980.

Martin was born on the 1 October 1958 in Liverpool. He attended Laird School of Art Birkenhead. He went on to Sheffield College of Art where he was awarded a 1st class BA Hons Degree in Fine Art.

Over the years Martin has exhibited at the Royal Academy in London as well as Galleries in Singapore and New York. He won 2nd Prize in the Discerning Eye Exhibition in London – an annual competition for living artists.

Martin’s work is scarce which makes it exceedingly exciting to see and extremely special to own. Each work takes a long time to create even more so now as he divides his time between painting and music.

He says, “I am still working a lot with the band at the moment and my painting time is quite limited. As a consequence of this my output is very small. I think this makes every painting feel more personal to me and this is reflected in the price.”

We are truly honoured that Martin shows his exquisite work at Sarah Samuels Fine Paintings, Chester. We await his next delivery with keen anticipation. There is a waiting list of collectors and would be collectors!
