Painting Enquiry

Born in Britain, in 1952. Neil works in both watercolour and oil, but his main empathy is with the watercolour medium. As a young man he was taken to the Royal Academy to see an exhibition of Paintings by Andrew Wyeth. From that day forward Neil has found him to be a constant inspiration to him. As an adult he travelled to America to see more of the Wyeth paintings.

He works as a Designer with Royal Doulton producing designs and paintings for their porcelain. He was responsible for the art work commemorating HRH Elizabeth the Queen Mother’s 100th Birthday and for many other pieces of Royal Commemorative china.

Because of work commitments, his paintings are exhibited in three galleries only, and Sarah Samuels Fine Paintings, Chester, is fortunate to be one of those chosen by him.

His watercolours fall into the categories figurative and still life. In both areas he is concerned with the essential points of composition, colour, texture and observation, and his interpretations are always quite stunning. He is fascinated with the way light falls on objects, grass, trees and through windows and doors. He was much enthused and inspired by visiting the work of Andrew Wyeth in the USA. A collection of his watercolours sold out at the exhibition of 20th century British artists. He has a large permanent collection of his Spanish work at a bank in Madrid.

Neil has been elected an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists.
